The historic City of Glenwood Springs, on the west end of the Roaring Fork Valley, is well-known for its famous hot springs and vapor caves . . . and Doc Holliday. It is often labeled a “real town” in contrast to high-end mountain resort towns, though Glenwood does attract thousands of tourists every year. The downtown area is replete with many shopping, dining and entertainment choices, but still retains the character of a western town. Everything one needs to make living or visiting here is readily available. Glenwood Meadows Mall, located southwest of downtown, has several large box stores and smaller independent ones. It draws shoppers from the entire Valley and from communities well beyond the Roaring Fork area. Glenwood Springs is also home to a regional hospital complex that continues to expand its medical services, and to several car dealerships. Yes, it is a real town.
