Basalt

Approximately mid-way in the Roaring Fork Valley lies old-town Basalt, incorporated in 1901, with visible reminders that it was a charming Victorian town. Its history dates back to the days when it served as an important railroad junction for the mining industry in the region. Today the town has an active arts community, a main street with shops, restaurants, galleries, professional offices, and other services. It is located at the confluence of the Frying Pan and Roaring Fork Rivers and is the gateway to the beautiful Frying Pan Valley, and the Ruedi Reservoir. Fly-fishing is a major attraction all year long in Basalt. In recent years, the town has expanded to include the Roaring Fork Golf Club, Southside, and Willits, a complete, vibrant community of its own both residentially and commercially, with all the services residents need to make living here extremely convenient.
